The Viva Hotel Pitti Palace al Ponte Vecchio is contained within the walls of the "Torre dei Rossi" (Rossi Tower), which dates back to 1200. From inside the tower one can see the Ponte Vecchio's stone buttresses jutting out over the Arno river. Seven floors make the tower one of Florence's taller buildings, and there is a splendid suite crowning the Hotel on the top floor. On the sixth floor the guest can either relax in the café lounge, at the bar or out on one of two spacious terraces, all while enjoying a magnificent view of Florence's skyline and major monuments. The 87 rooms are comfortable and cheerful, and the color scheme was chosen with an eye towards simplicity, linear and practical design. There is ample table space. The windows are large, inviting in the special atmosphere of the Oltrarno (Florence's Left Bank), where the Hotel is situated.
The rooms are clean and well-kept. Each room is sound-proofed, air conditioned and contains satellite TV (Sky channels), fridge, direct outside phone line, a wall safe for valuables, a hair dryer and a bathroom with tub.
These days, in the Hotel exhibition hall there is an exhibition of paintings of the Italian artist Sergio Orru. The exhibition is entitled "Paintings" and shows urban Italian landscapes and everyday people in everyday life. |
